The Great Blades series were made back in the late 1970's and had a special steel (YSS Stainless steel) that achieved a rockwell hardness of 63 without becoming brittle. The blades are mirror finished and sharper and harder than regular blades of the day. The handles are carefully hand matched sandalwood, a hard long lasting wood that becomes richer and mellower with use. Brass front bolsters.
