Very Rare Old Carl Schlieper's Eye Brand Knife Ê"EXTRA LARGE SWING GUARD"

Very rare, Eye Brand knife "Extra Large Swing Guard". I have never seen another like this, the center piece of a swing guard collection I purchased. A little over 6 inches closed. Nickel silver bolsters, folding guard, handle pins and inlaid Eye Brand crest shield. Brass liners. Lanyard hole. Large blade is stamped with Eye Brand logo and "CARL SCHLIEPER SOLINGEN GERMANY". Blade has a nail nick at the end and a 2-3/8" blood groove on both sides. Just an awesome piece.

German Eye Brand Knives is one of the few manufacturers that still uses hammer forged Solingen carbon steel. Some knife lovers will settle for nothing less than Hammer forged Carbon steel blades. These blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, Carbon Steel is less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. This is an extremely gorgeous two-blade German Eye Brand "Large Trapper" pocket knife. Blades have strong snap - same as back in the good ole days. Beautiful genuine stag handles.
Note: Extra care is needed with Carbon Steel blades.
Keep a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish of the steel.
